About Duke University Health System Clinical Laboratories

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Clinical Laboratory Technician to join our team at Duke University Health System Clinical Laboratories. As a Clinical Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results, which are essential for diagnosing and treating diseases.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform a variety of technical procedures involved in the procurement, processing, and evaluation of patient specimens.
  • Teach and perform routine clerical and technical procedures, including specimen collection and delivery.
  • Responsible for the procurement of specimens from physicians' offices and clinical specimen preparation and processing for analysis and dispatch.
  • Serve as a hospital laboratory representative and liaison with outside clients.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Completion of a structured phlebotomy training course and clinical rotation is recommended.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a Clinical Tech I or Certification as a Phlebotomist.
  • Certification as a Phlebotomist by a nationally recognized board/agency may be required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification of Basic Life Support.
  • Pediatric Phlebotomy experience.
  • National certification as a Phlebotomy Technician or Medical Laboratory Technician.
