Overview:

Accountable for overseeing the inspection, repair, support shop, and cleaning teams within the Equipment Maintenance Department.

Training Program:
The Maintenance Supervisor training program spans approximately nine months, incorporating both classroom instruction and hands-on training. Trainees must demonstrate proficiency across various shop and yard locations during different shifts.

Successful completion of the training program will qualify the trainee as a certified Maintenance Supervisor, enabling them to exercise seniority rights as outlined in the agreement.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
  • Organizing work assignments, tracking progress, and ensuring that tasks meet established standards.
  • Ensuring the safety of work teams under their supervision and providing technical direction to the teams.
  • Maintaining comprehensive records related to work performed, incidents, discipline, payroll, and attendance.
  • Enforcing all relevant regulations, policies, and procedures.
Qualifications:

  • Must be a current employee of the MTA.
  • A high school diploma or its equivalent (GED or TASC) recognized by a State's Department of Education or an accredited organization.
  • Must have completed all required modules and be a Qualified Maintenance Person A (QMP-A) or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of a pre-screening questionnaire to evaluate supervisory experience, management skills, and technical knowledge.
  • Proven ability to manage a work team and equipment effectively.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills along with demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Three years of relevant rail car maintenance experience or equivalent prior experience in maintenance environments.
  • Must be available to work at various locations and during different hours.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using a personal computer and Microsoft Windows Operating System.

Tests will be administered to applicants who meet all minimum requirements.


Wage Progression:

Details regarding wage progression are outlined for employees based on their hire date, with incremental increases based on tenure.

Additional Information:

The selection process may include a pre-screening assessment (physical, written, and/or practical evaluation) and an interview. Candidates who do not participate in any scheduled step of the process will forfeit further consideration.
