Dental Hygienist

We are seeking a highly skilled Dental Hygienist to join our team at the Indian Health Service. As a key member of our clinical services team, you will play a critical role in providing comprehensive oral health education and dental hygiene treatment to diverse patient groups.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct preliminary examinations on new dental service patients, including reviewing patient medical history and examining teeth and periodontium for evidence of plaque and periodontal disease.
- Develop and implement dental hygiene treatment plans for patients, including assessment of the problem and development of routine X-Rays to identify tooth structures, calculus, and abnormalities.
- Provide oral health education services to individuals and groups, including instructing patients at chairside in oral hygiene, brushing and flossing techniques, and periodontal aids.
- Administer local anesthetic agents, remove excess cement from coronal surfaces of teeth, and conduct dental health clinics for community groups.
- Research current dental literature and attend hospital and dental staff meetings to make improvements in the oral hygiene program.
- Current licensure to practice as a dental hygienist in a State or territory of the United States or the District of Columbia.
- One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level, performing duties such as examining and assessing patients, determining if systemic conditions are present and plan treatments, and providing oral health education services.
