Parkland Health and Hospital System is seeking a highly skilled Athletic Trainer to join our Sports Medicine team. As an Athletic Trainer, you will provide clinical support skills and athletic training outreach services in a sports medicine and orthopedic practice.

Under the general direction of a licensed medical practitioner, you will perform activities related to the care of patients with athletic injuries and illnesses, including prevention, recognition, assessment, management, treatment, and rehabilitation.

You will maintain accurate documentation, act as a liaison between physicians, patient caregivers, and other parties, and schedule patient appointments in electronic medical records.

Additionally, you will provide patient intake and rooming, obtain patient history, perform patient triage and physical assessment for athletic injuries, and report findings to providers.

You will also assist with patient calls or questions related to athletic injuries and related orthopedic care, provide patient education, and maintain knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impact your role.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical support skills and athletic training outreach services in a sports medicine and orthopedic practice.
  • Perform activities related to the care of patients with athletic injuries and illnesses.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in a directly related field.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of directly related experience in the field of athletic training.
  • Five (5+) years preferred.
  • Valid license from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR).
  • Certification from the Board of Certification (BOC) for the Athletic Trainer preferred.
  • Current healthcare provider BLS for Healthcare Providers certification within 90 days of hire and/or placement in job.
