About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join our team at Voya Financial. As a key member of our legal department, you will play a critical role in providing legal support to our investment teams and ensuring that our trading arrangements are compliant with relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide legal review and negotiation of trading arrangements, including ISDAs, master repurchase agreements, futures agreements, and associated collateral and custody agreements.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including trading desks, compliance, and risk management, to ensure that our trading activities are conducted in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Manage documentation specialist and/or other legal professionals to ensure that all legal documents are properly prepared and executed.
  • Provide legal support to our investment advisory, trust company, insurance company, investment company, private fund, commingled fund, and pension fund investment activities.
  • Conduct research, draft contracts, correspondence, and minutes, as needed.
  • Monitor and advise on advisory regulatory matters, including Dodd Frank, CFTC, SEC, and FINRA regulations, and certain non-US regulatory regimes.
  • Partner with counsel in affiliated Voya Financial companies to facilitate business activities.
  • Develop and maintain positive and productive relationships with Voya IM colleagues and partners, colleagues in Voya Financial, and external clients and counterparties.
  • Adhere to department and company policies and procedures, including confidentiality.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree and Juris Doctor Degree.
  • 7-12 years' overall experience, with enough of that time being spent negotiating trading arrangements to enable the candidate to work independently on such matters.
  • Voya IM is a leading private credit manager for affiliated and unaffiliated insurance company general accounts. Experience with insurance regulations related to managing insurance company general account assets is a plus.
  • Strong relationship management skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization and to work either independently or as a team member.
  • Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and MS Outlook.
  • Reliable, self-starter, detail-oriented, well organized, and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
