Medication Safety Officer Job Summary

The Medication Safety Officer is a key member of the LifeBridge Health team, responsible for ensuring the safe management of medications throughout the organization. This role involves identifying, evaluating, and reducing the risk of human injury and loss to the organization through education, monitoring, and compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Ensure compliance with statewide, national, CMS, and TJC standards and regulations

Promote and ensure compliance with TJC, CMS, and National Patient Safety goals and regulations pertaining to safe medication practices

Conduct recurring and ad hoc audits and/or special projects to assess for medication safety compliance, concerns, and/or potential risk issues

Maintain current knowledge of all relevant regulatory, accrediting compliance requirements and disseminate pertinent information to the respective leadership and staff

Develop and enhance the system-wide culture of receptivity to medication safety

Serve on patient care and medication safety related committees as a member or ex officio

Coordinate with medical staff and hospital leadership the quality and medication safety initiatives/priorities systemwide

Requirements:

Seasoned professional knowledge; equivalent to a Master's degree; knowledge in more than one discipline

Graduate from a college of Pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education is required

PharmD and Post Graduate Residency preferred

5-7 years of experience

Current Maryland Pharmacy license
