Job Title: Community Health Professor

We are seeking a highly qualified Community Health Professor to join our team at Tacoma Community College. As a Community Health Professor, you will be responsible for developing and teaching fully online community health coursework in a baccalaureate degree program.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and teach fully online baccalaureate level courses in the field of Community Health
  • Work with program faculty and staff on curriculum and program development incorporating current educational theories and research and integrating new and innovative approaches to instruction
  • Develop and utilize a variety of instructional strategies appropriate to the needs of learners in an online environment
  • Work with an advisory committee of community partners to keep curriculum relevant to local industry
  • Evaluate student progress and provide clear, timely feedback using program criteria and expectations
  • Maintain regular office hours to improve student retention and success
  • Work with local employers and students to facilitate internships
  • Support division/department goals
  • Participate actively in departmental responsibilities to include curriculum review, program development, and faculty meetings
  • Participate in the college's professional development and Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion events
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Public Health, Community Health, Social Work, Nursing, Health Administration, Human Services, or related field OR equivalent work experience
  • Three years relevant work experience and/or relevant current teaching experience that particularly qualify the candidate to provide instruction in community health
  • Intermediate level computer and technology skills
  • Ability to inspire, motivate, teach and mentor students in the profession of community health
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Doctoral degree in Public Health, Community Health, Social Work, Nursing, Human Services, or related field
  • Experience teaching at a secondary or post-secondary level
  • Experience in using online learning management systems (Blackboard, Canvas, etc.)
  • Experience in curriculum development at a baccalaureate level
  • Experience developing community contacts
  • Experience teaching or doing research in Native/Indigenous communities
  • Experience working in diverse populations
Required Conditions of Employment:
  • Successful completion of a criminal history background check prior to employment

Eligibility for benefits is based on employment status and FTE percentage. Full-time faculty, classified staff, administrators, and professional staff are eligible for benefits. Hourly employees and part-time faculty may be eligible for benefits if they meet specific criteria and are notified by TCC Human Resources.

Coverage begins the first day of the month following the date of hire, or date of achieving eligibility status.
