Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate a garbage truck on designated routes to collect solid waste, ensuring a high level of safety and efficiency.
  • Read route sheets and service each customer identified on the sheet or assigned by the dispatcher.
  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance on vehicles, including checking fluids, safety equipment, and tires.
  • Load and unload trash at designated facilities, using hydraulic hand controls as needed.
  • Interact with customers in a courteous and professional manner, providing excellent customer service.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort

This role requires extensive physical activity, including heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling objects over 50 pounds. You will work in a fast-paced environment with some exposure to physical risks, including moving mechanical parts. The employee is also exposed to outside weather conditions, including frequent wet and/or humid conditions, as well as exposure to fumes and vibration.

Requirements
  • Valid Class B CDL with air brakes endorsement as a minimum.
  • Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate in English.
  • Basic knowledge of truck components to complete pre- and post-trip inspections.
