Clinical Laboratory Specialist

Under the general supervision of a senior laboratory scientist, performs waived, moderate, and high complexity testing; evaluates test results; performs and evaluates quality control procedures; performs preventive maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting. Provides laboratory services in a timely manner and consistently delivers excellent customer service. Serves as a technical resource for customers and other staff. Adheres to all safety policies. Performs other related CLS functions as required.

The Rapid Response Lab provides services to Jacobs Medical Center and other outpatient areas. A CLS performs patient testing and works in subspecialty areas of the laboratory - Hematology, Coagulation, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Microbiology, and Blood Gas.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS)
  • Two (2) years of applicable clinical laboratory experience
  • Strong math skills
  • Manual dexterity
  • Demonstrated ability in teaching, critical thinking, and problem-solving
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Degree in Medical Technology from an NAACLS accredited MT program
  • Recent experience in a Stem Cell Processing, Blood Bank, Hematology Laboratory, or similar environment
Special Conditions
  • Must be able to work all shifts, weekends, overtime, and at various locations as necessary in accordance with operational needs
  • Must be able to participate in the SCPL weekend work/on-call and holiday coverage rotation
