Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced HVAC Operations Manager to join our team at Carteret County Public Schools. As a key member of our facilities management team, you will be responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems across our school district.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Supervision: Provide guidance and technical assistance to HVAC mechanics and other maintenance staff, ensuring that all work is completed to the highest standards.
  • System Maintenance and Repair: Oversee the maintenance and repair of HVAC systems, including boilers, refrigeration systems, and exhaust systems, to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Project Management: Coordinate and manage HVAC-related projects, including estimating, planning, and scheduling, to ensure timely completion and within budget.
  • Quality Control: Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure that all HVAC systems are functioning properly and meet safety and regulatory standards.
  • Training and Development: Provide training and guidance to maintenance staff on best practices and new technologies to improve their skills and knowledge.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Work closely with facilities management staff, school administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure that HVAC systems meet the needs of our students, staff, and community.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: A high school diploma or equivalent, plus a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in HVAC systems, preferably in a public school or similar institution.
  • Licenses and Certifications: Valid North Carolina H3 and H2 HVAC licenses, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) certification, and a valid North Carolina driver's license.
  • Skills and Abilities: Strong leadership and communication skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and proficiency in the use of HVAC tools and equipment.
Working Conditions

This is a 12-month, at-will position with a salary based on the local salary scale. The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent travel between school sites and occasional work in confined spaces.
