Position Overview: The New England Board of Higher Education is seeking a dedicated Facilities Custodian to join our team. This role is essential in maintaining a clean and safe environment for our academic community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine and specialized cleaning of various spaces, including offices, laboratories, libraries, and common areas.
  • Ensure all assigned areas are kept in a clean, orderly, and sanitary condition.
  • Sanitize restroom surfaces and replenish consumable supplies daily.
  • Perform floor maintenance tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming.
  • Manage waste disposal by emptying trash and recycling receptacles and transporting materials to designated areas.
  • Utilize power equipment for floor care, including stripping, waxing, and burnishing surfaces.
  • Maintain cleanliness of windows and assist with snow removal when necessary.
  • Work independently or collaboratively under the guidance of supervisory staff.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in the cleaning industry is required.
  • Basic proficiency in the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking.
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively in a professional environment.
  • Commitment to safety standards and practices in all aspects of work.
  • Ability to respond to off-hour emergencies as needed.

Professional Standards: Candidates must maintain a professional appearance and wear a clean uniform at all times. An ID badge must be displayed while on duty.
