Position Overview:
This role is designated for current eligible personnel within the Kern County Public Works Department who have successfully completed their initial probationary period and achieved a satisfactory performance rating on their last evaluation.
Examination Details:
The assessment process will include an oral examination aimed at evaluating the candidate's qualifications, including their training, experience, and suitability for the role.
Examination Components:
- Oral Exam (Weight 100%): This will assess the applicant's background and readiness for the position. A minimum score of 70% is required to pass.
Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
- Completion of sixty (60) semester or ninety (90) quarter units of college coursework from an accredited institution, along with four (4) years of relevant experience in areas such as equipment maintenance or road construction, including one (1) year in a supervisory role.
- A High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent, combined with six (6) years of relevant experience, including one (1) year in a supervisory capacity.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Requirements:
Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle License is mandatory. Some positions may necessitate completion of specific training programs within a set timeframe post-hire.
