Job Title: Structural Engineer III

Merrick & Company is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer III to join our Energy, Manufacturing, and Bioprocessing Business Unit.

Job Summary:

The Structural Engineer III will be responsible for supporting the design and retrofit of industrial sectors in the oil, gas, power, manufacturing, and bioprocessing facilities. This includes analysis and detailed design of structural steel and concrete structures, performing engineering cost estimates, and working with other disciplines such as mechanical and electrical groups.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop complete structural design of various structural systems using the appropriate building and material codes.
  • Develop design concepts and recommend appropriate structural gravity/lateral support and foundation systems.
  • Evaluate existing concrete and steel structures and provide written reports on deficiencies for client review.
  • Prepare clear, complete, and concise calculations, including software analysis models, and provide the appropriate level of connection design as required.
  • Coordinate work with other disciplines and perform interdisciplinary coordination checks to minimize deficiencies, errors, and omissions in engineering deliverables.
  • Prepare design criteria for all assigned projects and assure compliance with project and client requirements.
  • Participate in bid reviews when requested and the 30%, 60%, and 90% design reviews on all assigned projects.
  • Review shop drawings and submittals for specification compliance in a timely manner.
  • Participate in appropriate preconstruction/preparatory meetings.
  • Perform site visits and prepares observation/follow-up phase reports documenting progress and deficiencies.
  • Review all structural-related testing and inspection reports.
  • Respond to all RFI's and provides construction support as required.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering from ABET accredited program required.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in industrial and manufacturing facilities.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Proficiency in MS Office, MathCAD, SAP 2000, SAFE, AutoCAD, PIP, ACI, ASCE-7, and IBC.
  • Client facilities require site visits to gather project information, which may require climbing ladders and stairs.
  • Must have a valid driver's license, a good driving record, and be insurable under Merrick's insurance carrier.
  • Client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship.
