Compensation: $85,000 to $100,000 annually

Position Overview of the Wastewater Operations Manager:

AWPM is actively seeking a skilled Wastewater Operations Manager who will report to the Associate Vice President of Water Resources. This role is essential in overseeing the daily functions of our wastewater treatment facilities, ensuring the efficient processing of wastewater from various sources. The position encompasses managing personnel, serving as the primary liaison for clients, maintaining robust client relationships, supervising equipment upkeep, and guaranteeing the production of high-quality effluent in accordance with state and federal regulations.

The Wastewater Operations Manager is integral to our commitment to environmental responsibility at Allworld Project Management. This role also involves collaborating with and executing directives from the Associate Vice President of Water Resources. We are looking for a candidate who can uphold our standards for safety and operational effectiveness while supporting our environmental goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a safe working environment for all personnel and visitors, which includes operator training and monitoring for proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), chemical handling, equipment safety, and general plant safety. Coordinate with contractors to ensure adherence to the safety protocols.
  • Participate in client meetings, prepare reports, and present technical information to various stakeholders.
  • Oversee the collection and review of process control data, making informed decisions and directing the actions of wastewater treatment personnel to meet or exceed permit requirements.
  • Schedule and supervise all maintenance activities for the wastewater treatment plant, including both preventative and emergency maintenance. Troubleshoot and assess maintenance issues, determining appropriate corrective actions while maintaining water quality and continuous plant operation.
  • Manage all required testing schedules, generate reports using laboratory results and internal data for submission to regulatory agencies, and maintain organized records for future reference and inspections.
  • Generate purchase requisitions for necessary supplies and services, ensuring timely processing of invoices and resolving any issues with the purchasing department.
  • Supervise the scheduling of wastewater treatment operators, providing direct oversight and training to staff across all shifts.
  • Direct staff in all aspects of facility maintenance, including cleaning, organization, and upkeep of equipment and infrastructure.
  • Assist operators in field duties during peak operational periods.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervise all Wastewater Treatment Operators, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include employee training, work planning, performance appraisal, and addressing any personnel issues.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) with a minimum of five years of experience in the wastewater treatment field. Previous supervisory experience is advantageous.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret safety regulations, operational instructions, and procedural manuals.
  • Proficient in writing routine reports and correspondence.
  • Effective communication skills for presenting information to groups.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to perform calculations involving discounts, interest, proportions, and percentages.
  • Understanding of basic algebra and geometry concepts.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to solve practical problems and address a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
  • Ability to interpret various instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • While not mandatory, possession of a Class Wastewater License from TDEC is preferred. A valid driver's license is required.

Typical Physical Demands:

Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. The role requires the ability to operate general office equipment and lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.

Typical Working Conditions:

The work environment is representative of those encountered in a wastewater treatment facility, with occasional exposure to wet conditions, moving mechanical parts, and various chemicals. The noise level is typically moderate.
