We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Early Learning Teacher to join our team at the Diocese of St. Augustine. As an Early Learning Teacher, you will be responsible for providing a nurturing and stimulating environment for young children to develop their cognitive, social, emotional, and physical skills.
Key Responsibilities- Program Development: Plan and implement a culturally sensitive educational program that meets the needs of each child's age and language.
- Lesson Planning: Develop daily lesson plans based on the approved curriculum to promote cognitive, verbal, social, emotional, and physical development of children.
- Assessment and Documentation: Conduct ongoing assessment and individualization documentation in a timely manner.
- Classroom Environment: Create a developmentally appropriate, stimulating learning environment that includes adding new and interesting materials each week, meeting the developmental levels of all children in the group, including children with special needs.
- Health and Safety: Conduct daily health checks on each child, plan weekly activities that promote a healthy lifestyle, and follow policies and procedures regarding medical and dental emergencies.
- Family Partnerships: Attend parent meetings, inform parents about their children's progress, and maintain transition procedures for children moving from classroom to classroom.
- Professional Development: Participate in on-site and off-site professional development trainings and workshops, and maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Education: A minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
- Experience: Prior experience in a child care setting preferred.
- Credentials: DCF 45-hour training; National CDA, required for VPK.
- Skills: Knowledge of child growth and development, developmentally appropriate practices for children ages birth to 5 years, and applicable safety and abuse reporting procedures.
- Certifications: Must successfully pass the required criminal background check, complete Protecting God's Children (PGC) workshop, and register for Infant & Child First Aid and CPR certification.
The work environment is moderate, with some evening and weekend hours required. The Diocese of St. Augustine is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applications from diverse candidates.
