Generac Power Systems is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager-Engine Management to lead our Engine Development Group. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for all engineering activities, including new product introductions, cost reduction, technology/research, and lifecycle product support.
The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in mechanical or electrical engineering, with at least 10 years of engineering experience and 5 years of management experience. Industrial or commercial product engineering experience is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a global product development roadmap that targets specific customers' needs.
- Manage the development process, including design/application standards for improved repeatability and process globally/across multiple locations.
- Foster collaboration between engineering, sales, operations, finance, and other departments to identify and harvest new engineering concepts, technologies, techniques, standards, and procedures.
- Manage expenses, ensure regulatory compliance, and support corporate goals, including revenue growth, profitability, and market penetration.
- Provide engineering leadership and design oversight functions for new product development projects, including creating and maintaining development schedules and executing product development plans.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- 10 years of engineering experience.
- 5 years of management experience.
- Industrial or commercial product engineering experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with global product releases throughout the entire product life cycle.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver results while working on multiple global projects simultaneously, balancing resources, timing, and quality of outcomes.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Demonstrated team building and leadership skills.
- Solid understanding of engineering technical issues/needs, financial, sales, and marketing as related to product design and development.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Self-driven, highly motivated, flexible, and high capacity to learn.
- Previous experience using SAP or equivalent ERP.
Physical Demands:
The employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion, the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job include are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision, and ability to adjust focus. Moderate travel up to 20% and valid Driver's License required.
