The Team
The Lower School Team collaborates to teach foundational skills and create hands-on inquiry/project-based experiences for students. Each grade-level team is guided by a Head of Grade and supported by a Learning Coach to address the unique needs of every student. Utilizing resources such as visible thinking routines, off-campus experiences, mindfulness/SEL, and a network of specialists (Maker, Performing Arts, Physical Education, Science, Spanish, Visual Arts), the Lower School team inspires agency and creativity in our learners who are prepared to make a difference today.

The Role
As our Maker, Arts & Design Team (MV Studios) seeks to innovate arts education, we are in search of a visual artist to instruct Lower School Visual Art who excels in collaboration and connection. Our aim is to provide developmentally appropriate learning activities that foster an interest in and ability for creative expression. We believe every student possesses a unique potential for artistic creation, and our passion lies in nurturing that talent within a supportive and encouraging environment.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitating daily learning experiences for students
  • Co-developing curriculum and assessments with the grade-level team
  • Maintaining detailed records of student performance, progress, and goals using digital tools/LMS
  • Communicating effectively with families
  • Demonstrating and guiding students in various techniques and media to create artworks aligned with their artistic abilities
  • Educating students about the cultural and historical contexts of art
  • Encouraging students to express their individuality and thoughts through the creative process
  • Overseeing and managing classroom supplies and inventory
  • Actively engaging in professional development opportunities
  • Participating in weekly school/division/team meetings
  • Supporting the division by assisting with weekly coverage and responsibilities
  • Encouraging student participation in seasonal after-school events

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts or Art Education
