Job Title: Disability and Access Specialist

As a Disability and Access Specialist at SCAD - Savannah College of Art and Design, you will play a vital role in ensuring that students with disabilities have equal access to educational opportunities. Your primary responsibility will be to collaborate with various departments to assess student documentation and determine appropriate academic adjustments and accommodations in accordance with Section 504 and ADA guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with departments to assess student documentation and determine academic adjustments and accommodations
  • Attend weekly conferences to discuss student progress and provide referrals as needed
  • Monitor the database to ensure accurate and up-to-date information
  • Maintain a caseload of students with disabilities and provide support as needed
  • Participate in campus-wide initiatives to improve access for individuals with mobility impairments
  • Engage in outreach and work on psychoeducational program development
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in rehabilitation, counseling, special education, or related field
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive campus environment
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with diverse stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least two years of experience in a higher education environment
Work Environment:

The university work week is Sunday through Saturday, with most offices open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings, to accommodate business needs.
