Science Education Coach

The Model Teacher leader will provide instruction for 2 or more classes/courses and provide coaching/mentoring to fellow teachers. This role requires a strong desire to work with at-risk students and developing teachers, as well as the ability to communicate with adults and student learners at all ability levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides content-related and appropriate instruction based on Fulton County's curriculum.
- Creates a model classroom environment that promotes active learning in the subject area.
- Assists teachers with the implementation of the Georgia Standards.
- Works with teachers to improve classroom management and climate through the implementation of effective instructional methods.
- Analyzes student and teacher test data to determine teaching and learning effectiveness for each concept taught.
- Provides professional development at the school as needed.
- Exhibits knowledge of performance-based instruction and assessment.
- Participates in periodic professional learning activities.
Certification/Licensure
For Elementary: Must hold or be eligible for a valid and clear teaching certificate in Early Childhood Education for Elementary School.
For Secondary Math: Must hold or be eligible for a valid and clear teaching certificate in Middle Grades Mathematics (4-8) or Mathematics.
For Secondary Reading/Language Arts: Must hold or be eligible for a valid and clear teaching certificate in Middle Grades Reading (4-8), Middle Grades Language Arts (4-8), English (6-12), or Reading Endorsement in addition to a base secondary field.
For Secondary Science: Middle Grades Science (4-8), Science (6-12), or a related science field.
For Secondary Social Science: Middle Grades Social Science (4-8) or related social science field.
Experience Qualifications
Minimum of three years successful classroom teaching experience within the last six years required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Must have professional knowledge and proven use of effective teaching strategies and professional knowledge of curriculum-based assessments.
- Strong desire to work with at-risk students and developing teachers.
- Ability to communicate with adults and student learners at all ability levels.
- High technological skill level required.
- Demonstrated ability to work with personal and confidential information.
- Must be able to successfully manage multiple tasks, projects, and responsibilities.
- Ability to apply critical thinking skills in rendering solutions to various issues.
- Must be able to collaborate effectively with District and school personnel, the general public, and work with diverse groups of people.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing.
- Normal office and classroom environment.
- Routine physical activity associated with normal office and classroom environment.
