Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Highway Designer to join our team at H&H in New Haven, CT.

With over 137 years of experience, H&H is a trusted full-service infrastructure engineering firm. Our clients rely on us for intricate and innovative engineering solutions. We manage the entire life cycle of a project, from study and planning to design and construction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop conceptual design alternatives into contract plans, specifications, and construction estimates for highway, roadway bridge, interchange, and draining projects.
  • Design ADA compliant facilities, including sidewalks, shared-use paths, and intersection curb ramps.
  • Design and produce traffic control and staging plans and traffic, signing, and striping plans.
  • Produce engineering reports and other technical documents.
  • Attend field visits and meetings to gather data or assist in construction inspections.
  • Create 2D and 3D design models with computer design software such as AutoCAD, OpenRoads, and AutoTurn.
  • Work in coordination with H&H offices across the country to deliver projects that make roads safer.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • EIT certification and prior internship experience (preferred).
  • Zero-three years of experience.
  • Microstation V8i, Bentley OpenRoads experience (preferred).
  • Experience with CTDOT and/or the CTDOT Highway Design Manual (preferred).
  • Strong math skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in cooperative team environments.
