Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Highway Designer to join our team at Hardesty & Hanover. As a Highway Designer, you will play a critical role in the design and development of highway and roadway projects, ensuring that they meet the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the design and development of conceptual design alternatives into contract plans, specifications, and construction estimates for highway, roadway, bridge, interchange, and drainage projects.
  • Design ADA-compliant facilities, including sidewalks, shared-use paths, and intersection curb ramps.
  • Design and produce traffic control and staging plans and traffic, signing, and striping plans.
  • Produce engineering reports and other technical documents.
  • Attend occasional field visits and meetings to gather data or assist in construction inspections.
  • Create 2D and 3D design models with computer design software such as AutoCAD, OpenRoads, and AutoTurn.
  • Work in coordination with Hardesty & Hanover offices across the country to deliver projects that make roads safer.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • EIT certification and prior internship experience (preferred).
  • Zero-three years of experience.
  • Microstation V8i, Bentley OpenRoads experience (preferred).
  • Experience with CTDOT and/or the CTDOT Highway Design Manual (preferred).
  • Strong math skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in cooperative team environments.
