About You:
You are a licensed Land Surveyor prepared to oversee and execute surveying projects from inception to completion.
You have a robust professional and technical foundation in surveying, survey tools, software, and methodologies, which include:Conducting research on existing property lines, previous surveys, and control data
Executing pre-survey computations and preparations; coordinating logistics for both urban and remote surveys
Leading a field survey team to establish and recover control points, gather boundary evidence, and conduct topographic surveys to support engineering design initiatives.
Your Technical Expertise Includes:
Utilizing GPS, total stations, and levels.
Documenting detailed field notes and photographs.
Implementing field quality assurance measures.
In the office, you will handle data processing and survey calculations, prepare TIN surfaces, and perform final mapping using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Qualifications:
Valid Alaska Land Surveyor registration
Proficient in operating total stations, GPS devices, and data collection tools, as well as GPS processing software like Leica Geo Office
Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D
Possession of a valid Alaska Driver's License with a clean driving record
Willingness to travel within Alaska
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with municipal, State of Alaska, and Federal projects
Surveying experience related to Roads, Highways, and Airports
Background in working in remote Alaskan environments
A comprehensive skill set and extensive experience focusing on Alaskan projects or similar endeavors.
Demonstrated proficiency with various field note-taking and drawing techniquesUnderstanding of monumentation, staking, and marking principles.
Additional Experience Consideration:
Airport Aeronautical Surveys, both field and office
Right-of-way mapping and parcel plat drafting
Hydrographic surveying
FAA Drone Pilot License and experience in collecting imagery and LiDAR.

Key Responsibilities:
Act as the field Licensed Land Surveyor party chief, leading a small field survey crew in both urban and remote Alaskan locations.
Engage in both field and office work on control, boundary, subdivision, topographic & design surveys, aerial mapping control, and aeronautical surveys; may also involve drone imagery & LiDAR data collection and hydrographic surveying.
Efficiently operate survey measuring instruments, including GPS equipment, total stations, and digital levels, all equipped with electronic data collection capabilities.Recognize and address sources of measurement inaccuracies.
Conduct mathematical calculations and verify field data on-site.
Perform data processing, field note reduction, calculations, data verification, and staking computations using survey software and AutoCAD.
Execute quality control checks on each project, ensuring accuracy in computations, field book formats, and content.
Compose survey reports detailing horizontal and vertical control bases, the methodologies employed for the project, and the quality assurance processes utilized.
