Job Summary

The Senior Maintenance Technician will work alongside other Maintenance Technicians in a full range of maintenance activities related to the upkeep and safety of the Chesapeake Neighbors portfolio of affordable housing units across the Chesapeake region. The Senior Maintenance Technician will also facilitate repairs and assist in small construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete maintenance workorders; Maintain daily records of security, proper use of supplies, equipment, and vehicles as required.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs.
  • Perform painting and light carpentry work; Perform property repairs and assist with small construction projects.
  • Inspect assigned units to determine functional systems and detect malfunctions and needed repairs.
  • Perform minor electrical maintenance including but not limited to replacement or repair of fixtures, (i.e.: all switches and receptacles, incandescent and fluorescent bulbs and tubes, ballast, sockets, fuses, minor appliances, cords, etc.) using appropriate hand, power and specialty tools.
  • Perform minor plumbing maintenance (i.e.: replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging of drains, etc.).
  • With approval, order and purchase parts, equipment, and supplies and maintain appropriate documentation.
  • Perform regular preventive maintenance on equipment for all units.
  • Assist with snow removal and snow emergency operations.
  • Model and perform duties in compliance with all safety rules, regulations, or procedures given in writing or orally.
  • Communicate in a timely and professional manner with internal and external customers, coworkers, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure timely completion/compliance with all ticket system follow up, administrative paperwork, and policies and procedures.
  • Attend and actively participate in required trainings.
  • Support coordination with contractors for services (i.e.: plumbing, electrical, HVAC, etc.).
  • Support with event logistics when requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • HS diploma or GED and three years of carpentry experience working in construction or property management required.
  • Certification in plumbing, HVAC, or other facility-related trade is a plus.
  • Must have valid Maryland Driver's License with no egregious issues.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.
  • Must be customer service oriented.
  • Ability to use common tools and maintenance/construction equipment.
  • Ability to understand and follow directions given.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to use technology such as a computer and smartphone.
  • Ability to work well and adapt under pressure in an ever-changing environment.
