Job Summary:

The Department of Pathology at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine/VCU Health System is seeking a full-time Clinical Cytogeneticist to serve as Associate Director of the Clinical Cytogenetics Laboratory. This laboratory offers diagnostic testing for a full spectrum of conventional and molecular cytogenetic services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality clinical service in genetic and genomic testing.
  • Develop, validate, and implement clinical testing procedures.
  • Collaborate with faculty and clinicians in the development of new tests.
  • Communicate diagnostic results and testing needs with clinicians and faculty members.
  • Complete forms for national consortium groups regarding diagnostic testing results.

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in a relevant field.
  • ABMGG certification or eligibility in Laboratory Genetics and Genomics or Clinical Cytogenetics.
  • Knowledge of regulatory issues in cytogenetics.
  • Competency in chromosome analysis, FISH, and genomic microarray/copy number variant interpretation.
