Clinical Cytogeneticist

VCU Health is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Cytogeneticist to serve as Associate Director of the Clinical Cytogenetics Laboratory. This laboratory offers a wide range of diagnostic testing services, including conventional and molecular cytogenetic testing. The successful candidate will have earned a Ph.D. and have ABMGG certification or eligibility in Laboratory Genetics and Genomics or Clinical Cytogenetics.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality clinical service in genetic and genomic testing
• Develop, validate, and implement clinical testing procedures
• Collaborate with faculty and clinicians in the development of new tests
• Communicate diagnostic results and testing needs with clinicians and faculty members
• Complete forms for national consortium groups regarding diagnostic testing results

Requirements:

• Ph.D. in a relevant field
• ABMGG certification or eligibility in Laboratory Genetics and Genomics or Clinical Cytogenetics
• Knowledge of regulatory issues in cytogenetics
• Ability to clearly communicate diagnostic results and testing needs
