Position Overview:

The Senior Vice President (SVP) of External Relations is a pivotal leadership role that reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This individual will be responsible for enhancing CEBA's reputation, establishing it as the foremost authority for clean energy purchasers on business practices and policies globally.

The SVP will lead initiatives in marketing and communications, cultivate strategic alliances, and strengthen connections with policymakers, industry leaders, and other key stakeholders. The goal is to maximize the impact of CEBA's membership during a time of significant growth in energy demand, positioning the organization to influence national dialogues in a constructive and impactful manner.

Collaboration with the CEO and executive team is essential to drive strategic objectives, execute both short-term and long-term goals, and establish metrics for accountability and impact.

This role involves engagement with the governing Boards of Directors and the Advisory Board, which consists of influential CEBA members who will guide strategic direction.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance brand influence, communicate key messages, and maximize media engagement.
  • Safeguard and promote the brand through management of all media interactions, including CEBA's member platform, websites, and social media channels.
  • Increase awareness and advocacy for policy initiatives and clean energy transaction acceleration.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Vice President of Policy to communicate CEBA's advocacy impact to philanthropic supporters.
  • Monitor market trends and policy developments to inform strategic direction and communicate insights internally and externally.
  • Establish frameworks for executive-level engagement and communications that represent CEBA as a leader in the industry.
  • Work closely with member companies' communication teams to showcase significant clean energy transactions and innovations.
  • Oversee the design and distribution of CEBA's messaging and promotional campaigns, highlighting member achievements.
  • Manage a comprehensive digital and social media strategy, measuring stakeholder engagement with CEBA's brand and initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to amplify the brand through media, events, and partnerships.
  • Ensure clarity in marketing, communications, and policy efforts across the organization.
  • Direct external events and engagement strategies, determining CEBA's presence and approach.
  • Plan and execute strategies with budget oversight, resource allocation, and timeline management.
  • Utilize data and analytics to assess the success of programs and initiatives, enhancing the CEBA member experience.
  • Foster relationships with the CEBA and CEBI Boards of Directors.
  • Support and develop a team of CEBA professionals and consultants, encouraging cross-team collaboration.

Qualifications:
  • 20+ years of experience without higher education or 15+ years with a Bachelor's Degree or 12+ years with a Master's Degree.
  • At least 15 years of experience in marketing, strategic communication, external affairs, brand management, and corporate communication, with significant senior management experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in areas such as politics, policy, sustainability, climate, cleantech, or energy.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills at the executive level.
  • Proven leadership and people management experience.
  • Established professional network within clean energy and sustainability sectors.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States and willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
