Editorial and Production Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Editorial and Production Coordinator to join our team at the Hoover Institution Press. This is a full-time, four-month position with the possibility of extension. As part of our team, you will play a vital role in producing high-quality publications and supporting various stages of the publishing process.
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant work experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience. Key responsibilities include:
- Coordinating cover design for books and essays
- Tracking and securing permissions for covers, figures, and text
- Supporting full-service projects with editing, proofreading, and production coordination
The ideal candidate will have comprehensive familiarity with all phases of book production, including copy, editorial, project management, art and design basics, and both traditional and digital printing. They should also be familiar with the Chicago Manual of Style (17th or 18th ed.) and typical book production graphic software. Experience with these tools is preferred but not required.
Salary: $85,000 per year, depending on experience. Benefits include health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
