Job Title: Substance Use Disorder Counselor

Job Summary:

The Substance Use Disorder Counselor will be part of an interdisciplinary team serving individuals with various needs and histories. The incumbent will coordinate and provide substance and mental health counseling services, maintain community-based referral resources, and oversee recovery readiness, relapse prevention, and recovery planning services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct initial substance use screenings and develop preliminary plans of services.
  • Provide ongoing individual and group counseling to help clients achieve their goals.
  • Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and in-service workshops as an integral member of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
  • Develop and implement a curriculum to train clients in relapse prevention, harm-reduction, and the effects of trauma.
  • Establish and maintain linkages with community-based substance use programs and support service resources.
  • Refer clients to appropriate substance use disorder providers and provide follow-up and post-placement support services.
  • Provide training and consultation to treatment program staff on substance use disorder principles and practices.
  • Maintain accurate and concise case records of client status and progress.

Requirements:

  • CASAC or a Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or an equivalent field, with a minimum of three years of experience providing dual diagnosis services.
  • Strong knowledge of homeless and housing services/resources.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Foothold Technology AWARDS case management software.

Location: New York, NY 10009

Salary: $40,840 - $42,840 per year

Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday
