Medical Assistant Senior

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Assistant Senior to join our team at UPMC - Pittsburgh Medical Center. As a key member of our clinical support team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our medical staff.
Key Responsibilities- Take vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, height, and weight, and record them accurately in patient charts.
- Organize patient flow and schedules to ensure efficient and timely care.
- Assist patients with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, and preparing for exams.
- Collect patient information, take vitals, and perform screenings as per provider guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and medical staff to ensure seamless care.
- Manage patient medical records, including sending and receiving records in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Clean and maintain exam and procedure rooms to ensure a safe and clean environment.
- Restock exam and procedure rooms with necessary supplies.
- Comply with regulatory agencies, including OSHA, CLIA, and PA Department of Health.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient records and other sensitive information.
- Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and level one labs as required.
- Assist physicians with procedures and document patient information in medical records.
- Answer phone calls and provide patient education as directed.
- Obtain lab and x-ray reports, hospital notes, and referral information.
- Verify patient insurance coverage and demographics.
- Prepare and manage charts to ensure accurate and complete information.
- Perform other front office responsibilities as required.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Successful completion of Medical Assistant Program or equivalent hospital program (LPN/RN/EMT) or successful completion of certification examination (AMT, AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, or NHA) or at least 1 year of prior patient care experience.
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic, and treatment room responsibilities.
- Must be responsible and demonstrate proficiency in three practice category-specific tasks.
- CPR certification based on AHA standards.
- Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal.
- Act 33 with renewal.
- Act 34 with renewal.
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal.
