Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Child and Youth Program Assistant to join our team at Pacific Air Forces. As a key member of our Child Development Program, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care and supervision to children and youth in our program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of program staff in the operation and management of child and youth programs
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of children and youth in our care
  • Develop and implement daily activity plans that meet the needs of children and youth
  • Supervise children and youth during indoor and outdoor activities, field trips, and special events
  • Monitor staff-child ratios to ensure adequate staffing
  • Plan and coordinate activities that promote positive child and youth interactions
  • Work with trainers and supervisors to implement activities and special events that meet the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive needs of children and youth
  • Assist children and youth with special projects, homework, and life skills
  • Interact with children and youth using approved child guidance and youth development techniques
  • Interact professionally with staff members, parents, supervisors, and volunteers
  • Participate in conferences with parents, program staff, and other representatives
Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and hold a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing
  • Must possess one of the following: 24 months of experience working in a childcare or youth program and completion of DoD approved competency training courses, or an associate degree or at least 60 semester hours with a major course of study directly related to the age group to which assigned, or a bachelor's degree or at least 120 semester hours with a major course of study directly related to early childhood education, child development, youth development, human development, elementary education, special education, secondary education, youth program administration, recreation, and physical education
