Software Engineer - Back End

**About the Role**

Capital One is seeking an experienced Back End Software Engineer to lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers. As a key member of our engineering team, you will have the opportunity to drive transformation and create solutions that meet real customer needs.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • **Lead a Portfolio of Technology Projects**: Oversee a diverse range of technology projects, including distributed microservices and back-end systems, to create solutions that meet regulatory needs for the company.
  • **Mentor and Develop a Team**: Share your passion for staying on top of tech trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies, and mentoring other members of the engineering community.
  • **Collaborate with Digital Product Managers**: Work with digital product managers to deliver robust cloud-based solutions that drive powerful experiences to help millions of Americans achieve financial empowerment.
  • **Utilize Programming Languages and Technologies**: Leverage programming languages like Java, Python, SQL, Node, Go, and Scala, as well as Open Source RDBMS and NoSQL databases, Container Orchestration services, and a variety of AWS tools and services.

**Requirements**

  • **Bachelor's Degree**: A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • **Professional Experience**: At least 6 years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 1 year of experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud).
  • **People Management Experience**: At least 2 years of people management experience.

**Preferred Qualifications**

  • **Master's Degree**: A master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • **Cloud Computing Experience**: 7+ years of experience in at least one of the following: Java, Scala, Python, Go, or Node.js, and 2+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service.
  • **Agile Practices**: 2+ years of experience in Agile practices.
