Adjunct Pharmacy Technician Instructor

The Pharmacy Technician Adjunct position at InsideHigherEd provides quality instruction and maintains a positive learning environment in the classroom, with a major emphasis placed on teaching, supporting, and evaluating students. The Adjunct role provides instruction and monitors teaching/learning effectiveness in courses assigned by the Department Chair or other leadership members.
Key Responsibilities- Instruction and Student Learning
- Teach assigned courses as scheduled, designing curriculum that embraces diversity and fosters talent in students while modeling inclusive teaching strategies.
- Consider individual differences of students to design and support a range of appropriate learning activities.
- Participate in the identification of students with academic or other needs and respond by utilizing an appropriate resource.
- Utilize technology in a manner appropriate to the nature and objectives of courses and programs, communicating clearly to students the expectations concerning the use of such technology.
- Maintain accurate and appropriate records in accordance with departmental policies.
- Maintain attendance records, determine, and submit grades timely, and in accordance with established policies and procedures of the College.
- Distribute and maintain accurate syllabi that incorporate departmental, college, cross-college, and instructor requirements.
- Conduct classes punctually and in accordance with the prescribed meeting schedule.
- Employ appropriate assessment techniques to measure students' performance in achieving course goals and objectives.
- Engage in periodic meetings with the department, Lead Instructor, and Chairperson relative to teaching duties and professional development.
- Student Engagement and Advisement
- Create a positive classroom atmosphere that encourages active and collaborative learning, student effort, academic challenge, student and faculty interaction, and support for learners.
- Encourage a sense of community among students for learning both inside and outside the classroom.
- Refer students to appropriate student and academic support services available at the College or in the community.
- Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
- Help ensure the College meets its responsibilities in identifying areas of opportunity and systemic concerns while reporting complaints alleging discrimination.
- Create a welcoming, inclusive, equitable, and productive work and learning environment where all students, faculty members, and college employees feel valued and can contribute to their full potential, regardless of their differences.
- Ensure accessible and inclusive curriculum design and teaching strategies, and specifically promote, advise, and support curriculum development aimed at creating a diverse and equitable learning environment.
- Bachelor's degree in a health-related field.
- Licensed and Certified Pharmacy Technician or Licensed Pharmacist.
- At least 1 year of teaching or training or preceptor experience with current knowledge in the areas in which they are instructing.
- State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).
- Advanced Degree
- Prior college-level teaching
- Experience with Blackboard or other Learning Management Systems
$55.88 per contact hour
Two hours equals one contact hour
Maximum of 12 contact hours per week
