Job Summary

The Dietitian is a key member of the healthcare team, responsible for assessing the nutritional needs of patients and developing personalized care plans. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess the nutritional needs of patients and develop individualized care plans
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to coordinate care and ensure effective communication
  • Provide nutrition counseling and education to patients and their families
  • Develop and implement nutrition care plans based on patient assessment and medical orders
  • Monitor patient progress and update care plans as needed
  • Collaborate with the Food Service department to provide nutritionally appropriate menus and services
  • Teach nutrition classes for patients, hospital personnel, and community groups
  • Assume preceptor role for new associates, student dietitians, and dietetic interns
  • Assign daily patient care responsibilities to the Dietetic Technician
  • Resource for physicians, hospital personnel, and the community regarding nutrition practices
  • Maintain knowledge of current trends in nutrition and participate in in-services, committees, and other professional development activities
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Registered Dietitian and Florida licensure required
  • Certification in specialty area (e.g., CDE, NBNSC, Pediatric Nutrition) preferred
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Work Environment

This role requires working in a fast-paced environment with occasional high-pressure or emergent situations. The Dietitian will interact with a diverse population, including team members, providers, patients, insurance companies, and other members of the public. The job requires frequent visual acuity to perform activities related to extended use of computers.
