Job Overview
The GE Vernova Nuclear Inspection team is dedicated to evaluating nuclear power facilities globally during scheduled refueling periods. Our team employs a diverse range of manual and robotic inspection methodologies to meet our clients' dose reduction and scheduling objectives. The In-Service Inspection (ISI) team concentrates on examining components outside the reactor vessel and critical piping systems essential for safe operations.

Position Summary
The ISI Field Engineer will gain expertise in providing technical guidance and oversight for Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) activities associated with nuclear power plant inspection projects. This role entails effective communication with clients and supervision of a team of up to 15 contractors and colleagues.

The ISI Field Engineer will also assist in the development of processes, techniques, and tools to align with business requirements. This position will primarily focus on acquiring skills as an ISI Engineer and Equipment Technician during client outages. Responsibilities include training in planning inspection scopes, setting up and operating automated/robotic ultrasonic inspection tools, and troubleshooting equipment malfunctions.

The individual in this role will prepare automated tools and equipment prior to nuclear power plant outage inspections and will assess and document performance issues during inspections. They will also work during the off-season to enhance tooling and procedures based on identified issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist GE Vernova leads in project scheduling and delivery, providing task leadership, technical direction, and coordination of work teams consisting of GE Vernova and contingent personnel.
  • Learn to conduct drywell inspection activities at nuclear client sites.
  • Contribute to the development of innovative NDE techniques and tooling enhancements.
  • Support business functions including inspection tooling and technique development, Commercial Operations, and Planning & Staffing and Training.
  • Execute duties and complete assignments while upholding GE Vernova's standards for integrity, safety, and quality.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field (Chemistry, Material Science, Physics) from an accredited institution.
Eligibility Criteria
  • Willingness to travel up to 75% to domestic and international plant sites.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to climb 10 flights of stairs twice daily.
  • Must pass respirator fit tests and physical assessments.
  • Ability to meet Fitness for Duty requirements and site security protocols for unescorted access.
  • Capacity to work under high-stress conditions.
  • Willingness to operate in radiation-controlled and radioactively contaminated environments.
  • Availability to work 12 hours a day and 7 days a week as required for project completion.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience in designing, operating, and maintaining automated or robotic tools.
  • Strong mechanical skills with experience in mechanical repairs and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code sections III, V, VIII, and XI.
  • Knowledge of GE Nuclear / GE Vernova products, processes, clients, markets, and competition.
  • Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
  • Proven problem-solving skills.
  • Capability to document, plan, market, and implement programs.
  • Established project management competencies.
Compensation and Benefits
The base salary range for this position is competitive and may vary based on the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This role is also eligible for performance bonuses and other incentives.
