Position Overview:
As a Senior Simulation Engineering Specialist, you will play a pivotal role within the Plant Integration Engineering team at GE Vernova. Your focus will be on advancing LEAN integrated plant design (IPD) through the application of cutting-edge digital engineering methodologies.
Role Summary:
This position emphasizes a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach to systems engineering, enabling complex IPD, analysis, and optimization. You will leverage a modern toolkit of physics and mathematics-based digital engineering modeling and simulation software to mitigate technical risks, optimize engineering resources, and streamline project timelines during innovative plant design initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in a cross-functional team environment, collaborating with Systems, Instrumentation & Controls, and Human Factors Engineering to ensure the successful implementation and ongoing management of the multi-organizational and geographically dispersed SAE framework.
- Maintain a comprehensive master plant simulation model within the SAE framework, ensuring that requirements and configuration management are consistently updated and properly baselined.
- Develop and refine system models in an integrated simulation environment, conducting simulations for individual systems, interconnected systems, or entire power plants across various operational scenarios.
- Work closely with simulation software vendors to establish plans, procedures, and reports, while also conducting factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT) for simulators, addressing Discrepancy Reports (DR), enhancement requests, and training requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Nuclear, Systems), Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering or design processes.
- At least 2.5 years of experience in simulation utilizing modern physics, mathematics, and software-based modeling tools, particularly in areas such as nuclear reactor thermal hydraulics and plant process systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Engineering or related fields.
- Experience with software repositories for multidisciplinary teams, particularly GitLab.
- Familiarity with advanced digital engineering collaboration and design tools.
- Experience in developing high-fidelity engineering simulators integrated with DCS platforms.
