About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced TEMPEST engineer to join our team at Top Secret Clearance Jobs. As a TEMPEST engineer, you will play a critical role in crafting, testing, certifying, and building high-assurance encryption products aligned with NSA TEMPEST requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • You will collaborate with hardware design engineers and mechanical engineers to create TEMPEST-compliant products.
  • You will recommend circuits, participate in design reviews, and conduct tests on new TEMPEST solutions.
  • You will review schematic/CAD designs for accuracy.
  • You will craft TEMPEST test plans, procedures, and reports.
  • You will participate in the initial certification and submittal phase of Viasat's TEMPEST facility and oversee certification under the TEMPEST Manufacturing and Test Services Program.
  • You will perform testing in accordance with NSTISSAM TEMPEST/1-92, CNSSAM TEMPEST 01-02.
  • You will collaborate with test technicians to conduct experimental (engineering) and formal (for score) TEMPEST tests.
  • You will complete Viasat's production sampling TEMPEST program.
  • You will liaise with NSA to achieve successful TEMPEST test results and product certification.
  • You will support the EMI/EMC qualification of Viasat products.
Requirements:
  • You must have 5+ years' experience in hardware design for TEMPEST secure products.
  • You must have 3+ years' experience in TEMPEST engineering.
  • You must have extensive experience with NSTISSAM TEMPEST/1-92 and CNSSAM TEMPEST/01-02 specifications.
  • You must be familiar with TEMPEST test equipment such as TEMPEST receivers, oscilloscopes, dynamic signal analyzers, signal generators, etc.
  • You must have foundational knowledge of analog and digital logic and timing considerations.
  • You must have strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work with a temporally and geographically diverse team.
  • You must be able to detail and report on technical solutions/findings.
  • You must be familiar with production-related processes and common failure modes.
  • You must have proven ability to work with a multidisciplinary team to evaluate and troubleshoot production-related issues.
  • You must hold a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Engineering Physics, or Physics.
  • You must be an NSA Certified TEMPEST Professional Level I (CTP-I).
  • You must be a US citizen.
  • You must hold an active DoD Top Secret Clearance.
  • You may need to travel up to 30% of time if required.
