Job ResponsibilitiesAs a Commercial Security Systems Technician, you can expect to:
The Technician will be tasked with servicing, maintaining, repairing, and diagnosing issues related to access control systems and IP-based video surveillance technologies. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- Traveling to client locations to service, repair, troubleshoot, and assess access control systems and IP-based video security technologies, including:
- Electrified and non-electrified locks, card readers, ancillary door devices, IP and analog cameras, head-end video recording devices, wired and wireless systems, and intercom systems.
- Diagnosing installation issues effectively to apply the most efficient resolutions in line with company standards; ensuring compliance with applicable building codes and maintaining operability of physical security systems.
- Documenting service-related issues for tracking purposes.
- Demonstrating proficiency in the safe use of hand and power tools, as well as analog/digital testing equipment and CCTV testing devices.
- Reading and interpreting electrical schematics, CAD drawings, and related documents for low voltage applications.
- Establishing and nurturing effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Providing remote diagnostic support via phone and online platforms.
- Utilizing a company-issued vehicle to travel to client sites for service tasks.
- Performing additional duties as assigned by Operations Management.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- High School Diploma, Vocational Training, or equivalent is required.
- A minimum of 2 years of field experience is necessary.
- Familiarity with any of the following systems is preferred: Software House, Lenel, AMAG, S2, Brivo, Milestone, Exacq, Axis, Bosch, Commend, DMP, Open Options, Notifier, Fluidmesh, or ONSSI.
- Possession of state-specific licensing (e.g., Class D or Alarm Installer) or the ability to obtain such a license upon hiring.
- Understanding of Windows operating systems and overall IT network architecture.
- A proactive and skilled individual who consistently upholds the core values of Allied Universal® Technology Services.
- Ability to meet deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with both internal and external clients.
- Availability for scheduled on-call duties to respond to emergency service requests.
- Excellent troubleshooting abilities, along with mechanical and electronic aptitude.
- Capability to lift up to 50 lbs and work at heights of up to 16 feet.
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively as part of a team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
