Position Overview

Light of Life Rescue Mission has been dedicated to serving vulnerable populations since 1952. We are currently in search of a full-time Outreach Specialist to work within our Women's Day Center. This role is crucial in providing assistance and support to individuals experiencing homelessness.

The primary focus of this position is to address the immediate needs of female guests while ensuring a welcoming and secure environment. The Outreach Specialist will collaborate with various organizations to foster relationships with the homeless community, encouraging them to transition from the streets into our recovery programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develops service plans and provides case management to address both immediate and long-term needs of individuals experiencing homelessness.
  2. Trains and supports volunteers involved in the Outreach program.
  3. Engages with Light of Life staff and external organizations to tackle overarching issues related to homelessness.
  4. Establishes partnerships with other social service agencies.
  5. Analyzes data from the County's homeless management system and our internal data management system.
  6. Occasionally visits encampments to build rapport and understand the needs of the homeless population.

Qualifications:

  • Valid PA Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proficient in personal computer usage, including Microsoft Suite, with a willingness to learn new software.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills; compassionate and patient, able to create a safe and welcoming atmosphere.
  • CPR/First Aid certification is preferred.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in social work or a related field is preferred.
  • 2-3 years of experience in counseling or case management is preferred.
  • Prior experience in human services is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of substance abuse and mental health issues is advantageous.
