Job Summary:

The University of Miami is seeking a highly skilled Surgical Care Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our surgical department, you will be responsible for managing the administrative aspects of patient care and serving as a liaison between surgical scheduling teams, hospitals, surgeons, and nursing care teams. Your primary goal will be to ensure seamless communication and coordination between these various stakeholders to provide exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as a liaison between surgical scheduling teams, hospitals, and nursing care teams to ensure efficient communication and coordination.
  • Provide non-medical administrative support to patients and families, addressing their needs and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Oversee daily clerical and surgical functions, managing all programs and events planned by the division.
  • Support Chief, executive, surgical, and administrative leadership in their efforts to provide high-quality patient care.
  • Participate in problem-solving and providing feedback, utilizing established communication channels and the chain of command in collaboration with managers and supervisors.
  • Manage the flow of surgical cases for assigned service lines and clinical programs, ensuring timely and efficient processing.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and implement continuous improvement efforts related to surgical scheduling productivity for General Surgery in conjunction with leadership.
  • Liaise between patients, department leadership, and hospital staff to improve processes and ensure operational continuity.
  • Work closely with department leadership to ensure the team is following optimal practices and policies during the scheduling process.
  • Assist in the talent recruitment process and provide training to new team members.
  • Serve as a reference and support to surgical scheduling staff for their direct line of service and clinical programs.
  • Maintain a productive and functional relationship across all specialties relevant to the functions of the clinical programs and Division, ensuring multi-disciplinary surgical treatment is efficiently coordinated.
  • Work closely with hospital clinical departments, physicians, and ambulatory clinics to monitor service delivery.
  • Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures, safeguarding University assets.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certification may be considered.
