Position Overview
A clinically proficient registered professional nurse who provides patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. Responsible for prescribing, delegating, and coordinating nursing care for patients throughout the healthcare system. Engages effectively with patients, their families, and healthcare team members while upholding the standards of professional nursing. Meets all criteria and expectations outlined in LMHS's universal job description.
Key Responsibilities
- Collects medical, family, and social histories from patients.
- Evaluates patient and family needs.
- Conducts physical examinations, identifies deviations from normal in physical assessments, and collaborates with physicians to formulate necessary management and treatment plans.
- Refers patients for diagnostic, surgical, and psychological services.
- Documents findings, reports, and plans in the medical record with appropriate detail.
- Provides educational opportunities for patients and families, utilizing additional resources as needed.
- Facilitates patient engagement in healthcare by offering information necessary for making informed decisions regarding health promotion, maintenance, and restoration.
- Participates as a member of an interdisciplinary team to ensure coordinated care with collaborating physicians and other healthcare providers.
- Contributes to health education initiatives for individuals and groups through outreach programs.
- Assesses the effectiveness and efficiency of care and engages in quality improvement activities as a team member to enhance the value of care provided.
- Demonstrates leadership in quality and utilization management processes.
- Pursues professional development through continuing education, reviewing professional literature, and sharing experiences with colleagues.
- Ensures personal performance aligns with the Mission, Vision, Standards of Behavior, and Service Goals.
- Preferred experience as a Physician Assistant.
- Graduate of an accredited PA program and holds a current State of Ohio license.
- Certified as a PA-C by a nationally recognized certifying body.
- Exhibits clinical skills, knowledge, and judgment necessary to provide care within the PA scope of practice.
- Demonstrates the ability to care for adult patient populations under the guidance of collaborating physicians.
- Possesses strong communication skills to foster effective relationships with patients, families, and healthcare professionals across various disciplines.
- Exhibits flexibility and adaptability in a collaborative environment.
- Shows insight into enhancing the health of patient populations.
- Maintains clinical excellence through ongoing education.
- Participates efficiently in emergency situations (code blue, fire, weather, disaster).
- Maintains BCLS and ACLS certifications.
- Demonstrates proficiency in using computer systems, including Meditech, Dictaphone/Dragon, and Centricity.
