Job Purpose

The Club Financial Manager/Controller is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting, payroll, and human resource functions within the course. This individual has a deep understanding of operational concepts and possesses a strong attention to detail to deliver results. Under the direction of the General Manager, the Club Financial Manager/Controller serves as an adviser and thought leader on the financial and operational objectives of the course.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise all accounting and reception staff regarding accounting and financial procedural requirements to ensure accuracy and timeliness of location's financial reporting.
  • Maintain facility payroll and timekeeping databases by processing personnel changes and bi-weekly payroll.
  • Maintain the membership database for member billing.
  • Assist General Manager in ordering office supplies, completing all month end financial entries including reporting and schedules on time.
  • Facilitate accounts receivable collections through phone calls and letters.
  • Maintain location information systems and resolves hardware/software issues with assistance from corporate Information Technology function.
  • Help General Manager prepare annual budgets.
  • Interview, hire, train, supervise, evaluate, and discipline staff hired to perform accounting functions.
  • Ensure adherence and accountability of all internal controls and company accounting policies and procedures.
  • Implement and support all American Golf initiatives and programs as requested by management.
  • Other duties may be assigned by management.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will possess:

  • 2 years accounting/finance experience, including monthly reporting and general ledger management.
  • Well-versed in computer-based accounting systems, Internet applications, and Windows operating environment with ability to operate computer, calculator, fax, copier, and telephone.
  • Familiar with management of a timekeeping system, preferably Kronos.
  • Ability to produce financial statements under tight month-end deadlines.
  • Must have strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, customers, and management.
  • Must be fluent in English.
  • A valid driver's license is required.

Education

A 4-year college degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred, with JD Edwards experience being a plus.
