Job Summary

Hunton Trane, a division of Hunton Group in Houston, TX, is seeking a skilled Building Automation Systems (BAS) Controls Technician to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for the installation, diagnosis, and repair of environmental-comfort systems, utilizing your knowledge of air conditioning theory, hydronic theory, and modern control techniques.

Key Responsibilities
  • Commission, program, and set up graphics, communications links, and end-to-end test and troubleshoot assigned projects.
  • Install, diagnose, repair, and program HVAC equipment based on blueprints and engineering specifications.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, site surveys, replacements, and modifications as needed by customers.
  • Maintain a variety of HVAC equipment by inspecting for signs of wear, maladjustment, miscalibration, malfunction, and drift.
  • Determine parts to order for repairs and timeliness of need.
  • Document and maintain paperwork for each job.
  • Represent the company as a direct contact for customers.
  • Support HVAC Field Technicians by providing technical assistance and guidance.
  • Utilize project plans to prioritize and schedule work sequences.
  • Provide technical support and training to customers.
  • Stay current on Trane products concerning installation, operation, maintenance, service, and repair of direct digital control systems.
Requirements
  • Strong technical and mathematical aptitude.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
  • Previous experience with DDC controls systems preferred.
Additional Requirements and Environment Exposure
  • Ability to safely and legally operate a vehicle using a seat belt.
  • Ability to wear helmets, safety goggles, fall protection harness, and safety boots to safely perform job duties.
  • Ability to twist the trunk of your body 90 degrees in each direction.
  • Ability to squat and touch the floor with both hands.
  • Ability to reach your hands over your head.
  • Ability to stand on concrete surfaces for extended periods, routinely up to 4 hours.
  • This position is highly physical and requires regular use of hands, fingers, walking, stooping, kneeling, and climbing ladders. It requires employees to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. and frequently lift and/or move up to 40 lbs. (may occasionally lift and/or move more than 40 lbs. with special approval).
  • Ability to safely use a ladder with a 375 lb. total weight limit, while wearing equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to maneuver access areas, as small as 30" vertical x 45" horizontal.
  • Ability to comfortably and routinely access rooftops with extension and/or fixed ladders at heights of 15' to 20', and occasionally, up to 50 ft.
  • This role may be exposed to variable weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, heights, risk of electrical shock, noisy operating equipment, and other variable environmental conditions based on location.
