Job Title: Building Automation Systems (BAS) Technician

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Building Automation Systems (BAS) Technician to join our team at GTN Technical Staffing. As a BAS Technician, you will be responsible for installing, commissioning, and servicing commercial building automation systems, including on-call service as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program startup troubleshoot commission and service commercial Building Automation System equipment.
  • Respond to after-hours service calls as needed, ensuring customer satisfaction with a positive attitude.
  • Attend in-house and formal training sessions when offered.
  • Record time and job information daily, submit weekly timesheets by Monday 08:00 AM.
  • Maintain accurate paperwork and a valid driving license with a safe driving record.
  • Identify and implement BAS energy and performance improvements with minimal oversight.
  • Perform calibration testing and repairs on advanced electronic, electrical, and pneumatic control systems.
  • Work on building automation controls and instrumentation related to refrigeration and HVAC systems.
  • Perform system commissioning and diagnostics from system-level controllers to end devices, completing commissioning documentation.
  • Obtain trend data to identify system improvements.
  • Utilize various pneumatic/electronic test instruments and optimize controls for chillers and other HVAC equipment.
  • Install and service products and equipment on assigned projects.
  • Use hand tools and laptops to install, diagnose, repair, and program HVAC equipment.
  • Identify, analyze, diagnose, and repair instruments and products at customer locations.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, site surveys, replacements, and modifications as requested by customers.
  • Prepare for onsite installations and repairs by examining building layouts, anticipating difficulties, gathering materials, and coordinating onsite work.
  • Inspect vehicles for condition and literature supplies.
  • Maintain HVAC equipment by inspecting for signs of wear.
  • Determine parts needed for repairs and order them timely.
  • Document and maintain paperwork for each job.
  • Serve as a direct contact for customers, representing the company.
  • Support HVAC Field Technicians by providing technical assistance and guidance.
  • Utilize project plans to prioritize and schedule work sequences.
  • Provide technical support and training to customers.

Requirements:

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent from a Technical/Trade School and/or two (2) years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to repair/calibrate individual instruments and controls on a system and troubleshoot/finetune the control system as a whole.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must possess a valid Texas driver's license with a safe driving record.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, AutoCAD, and programming.
  • Certifications in Tridium N4, Distech, and/or Siemens are a plus (prefer a tech with Siemens experience).

Physical Requirements:

  • Must handle and lift normal tools of the trade for building automation and automatic temperature control installation and service work.
  • Regularly required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, talk, or hear.
  • Frequently required to walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Occasionally required to sit.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Frequently climb and/or work off step ladders and extension ladders following safe work practices and wearing required safety gear.
  • Frequently access building roofs to commission and service control equipment.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Preferred:

Siemens experience is preferred for this Austin location.
