Kraemer North America is seeking a highly skilled Survey Party Chief to join our team in the Mountain West Region. As a Survey Party Chief, you will be responsible for carrying out field surveying with various methods and techniques, providing oversight and interpretation of design plans, and ensuring surveys are compliant with applicable laws, rules, and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Survey Administration: Assist with the administration and compliance of Kraemer Safety and Quality Programs.
  • Survey Operations: Proficiently operate and maintain optical and electrical surveying instruments and equipment, including UTS, GPS, Total Station, etc.
  • Communication: Frequently and professionally communicate with clients, contractors, teammates, and other stakeholders.
  • Data Management: Transfer survey data to the proper files in the computer network and acquire data for field use.
  • Design Plan Interpretation: Provide interpretation of design plans for construction, staking, and laying out.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure surveys are compliant with applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Field Calculations: Perform field calculations, note-keeping, and electronic data collection to describe and record survey work performed.
  • Survey Methods: Use field survey methods and techniques to determine precise location and measurements of points, elevations, lines, areas, and contours.
  • Survey Control: Determine methods and procedures for establishing or re-establishing survey control.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Be responsible for and oversee the maintenance of the truck and necessary adjustments to field survey equipment.
  • Problem-Solving: Resolve procedural, operational, and work-related problems, including conflicts in plans, errors in work, personnel issues, etc.
  • Coordination: Coordinate activities with Kraemer project staff, project subcontractors, and Assistant Survey Manager.
Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma or GED; any combination of training, education, and experience equivalent to five years of surveying experience.
  • Experience: 1+ year of experience as a Survey Party Chief.
  • Skills: Experience in AutoCAD, Trimble Business Center (TBC), and Trimble Access is preferred.
  • Personal Qualities: Strong work ethic and attention to detail, strong decision-making and/or problem-solving skills, strong time management and communication skills, and efficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
