Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Permitting Manager to join our APAC Infrastructure-Development team within the global Environmental organization of AWS. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading on multiple regions and sites in-development, preparing environmental permits and applications for time-critical submission to governmental agencies, and managing consultant deliverables and quality for critical environmental disciplines.

About the Role

This is a fast-paced role that requires strong analytical skills, excellent organizational and project management skills, and the ability to work with minimal guidance. You will collaborate with key AWS teams, including Real Estate, Risk & Resiliency, Design Engineering, and Legal, to ensure that our environmental due diligence and permitting processes are efficient and effective.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare environmental permits and applications for time-critical submission to governmental agencies.
  • Manage consultant deliverables and quality for critical environmental disciplines: air permits, EIAs, natural heritage/biodiversity and cultural heritage assessments.
  • Lead on environmental due diligence reviews (contaminated site management, remediation, initial environmental risk analysis, site screening, site approvals).
  • Undertake regulatory, authority, and agency negotiation.
  • Collaborate with key AWS teams to ensure that our environmental due diligence and permitting processes are efficient and effective.
About the Team

You will sit in the APAC Infrastructure-Development (InfraDev) team within the global Environmental organization of AWS. We are responsible for environmental due diligence, permitting, and approvals for all new AWS sites in Asia-Pacific. We are a small, global team but highly effective, and we manage multiple projects in APAC and are always innovating in how we complete our work.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in environmental engineering, science, or related field of study.
  • Experience in obtaining environmental permits in APAC for project development and the management of consultant deliverables and quality.
  • Experience of permit evaluations and applications, Environmental Impact Assessments, biodiversity integration, water discharge requirements, and waste management.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experienced in managing and delivering multiple sites/locations in EMEA at any one point in time.
  • Highly autonomous and can work with minimal guidance with excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, changing/growing organization.
  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem-solving ability across multiple jurisdictions.
