Job Summary

The Financial Administrative Specialist is a critical role within the Veterans Benefits Administration, responsible for providing expert financial guidance and support to internal and external customers. This position requires a high level of technical expertise, analytical skills, and strong communication abilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Analysis and Advice: Provide detailed technical advice to staff members and management on complex financial regulations, policies, and laws.
  • Voucher Auditing and Submission: Audit and submit vouchers for payment, utilizing analytical skills to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Internal Controls and Risk Management: Establish and maintain internal controls systems, with a focus on operational areas identified as high-risk for fraud, waste, and abuse.
  • Reporting and Data Analysis: Prepare fiscal, administrative, and statistical reports, as required, and provide technical advice on finance operations.
  • Customer Support: Respond to inquiries from Congressional Offices, Regional Counsel, and the Office of Inspector General, providing expert financial guidance and support.
Requirements
  • Education: A bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Specialized Experience: Experience in financial analysis, auditing, and internal controls, with a strong understanding of financial regulations, policies, and laws.
Working Conditions

This position requires regular office hours, with occasional travel to regional offices. The ideal candidate will have strong communication and analytical skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
