Leidos is seeking skilled professionals to contribute to the design, qualification, and assembly of essential control systems for our Defense Department clientele. Our current initiatives are aimed at supporting the warfighter of tomorrow. We operate a facility characterized by a light touch, high mix, and low rate of production, where we innovate and qualify new products, specifically electro-mechanical components, while providing support for an extended duration.

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a pivotal role within the leadership team, reporting directly to the Production Manager. You will collaborate closely with teams from Engineering, Production, Quality Assurance, and Project Management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop manufacturing sequences and processes, along with the necessary tooling and test fixtures for all deliverable program hardware.
  • Provide continuous floor support and coordinate efforts to enhance producibility and implement ongoing process and product improvements.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, performance specifications, and supplier component specifications to inform manufacturing concepts.
  • Extract and develop manufacturing methodologies that align with customer and company requirements from engineering data.
  • Engage in concurrent engineering design activities to ensure manufacturability during the production phase.
  • Identify critical processes for trend analysis, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations while enhancing manufacturing capabilities.
  • Facilitate the Material Review Board (MRB) processes to implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Create assembly instructions for our Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and identify opportunities for process optimization.
  • Formulate manufacturing processes with defined metrics aimed at Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Utilize lean manufacturing techniques to minimize costs and waste.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering Department to implement Design For Assembly (DFA) principles and support initial assembly work instructions for new products.
  • Advise engineering teams on design concepts and specifications to optimize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
  • Assist Quality Assurance in investigating failures and defects, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions for continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of eight years of experience in designing or constructing electro-mechanical assemblies within an ISO 9001 or AS9100 environment.
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Management experience collaborating across multiple disciplines to achieve shared objectives.
  • Proficiency in reading and understanding engineering drawings and operational procedures.
  • Ability to produce assembly and testing documentation with support from Engineering and Quality Assurance.
  • Experience in producibility engineering/DFA in an electro-mechanical context.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Eligibility to obtain a Secret security clearance; must be a U.S. citizen.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Technology, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification.
  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint and Deltek Costpoint ERP.
  • Familiarity with PTC Windchill PLM and iBase-t SoluminaTM MES.
  • CAD proficiency, preferably in Dassault Systèmes SolidWorks.
  • Experience in utilizing a Manufacturing Execution System/MES, with a preference for Solumina.
  • Experience in developing and delivering training programs for production teams.
