Your Role

As a Tunnel Engineer in our trenchless and tunnel division, you will take on responsibilities for both smaller and larger projects. Your role will involve evaluating, selecting, and specifying tunnel and trenchless engineering projects. Key tasks will include:

  • Conducting calculations and providing construction support.
  • Developing contract documents and coordinating project tasks.
  • Designing projects to enhance reliability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Participating in the construction phase of projects as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage multiple projects and handle individual tasks on complex assignments.
  • Execute engineering design tasks under the guidance of the Project Technical Lead or Project Manager.
  • Collaborate with CAD and graphics teams to develop design sketches and diagrams.
  • Prepare and update documentation and drawings throughout various project phases.
  • Engage in project coordination meetings with team members and stakeholders.
  • Maintain effective communication with team members and assist senior engineers in project deliverables.
  • Contribute to constructability reviews and prepare project proposals and change orders.
  • Support the project team during construction with services such as submittal reviews and contract clarifications.

Qualifications

Capabilities and Credentials

The ideal candidate will possess:
  • Innovative thinking and a collaborative work ethic.
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to teamwork.
  • Experience in tunnel and/or trenchless design, with construction experience being advantageous.
  • Familiarity with tunnel and trenchless design principles.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant design software.
  • A problem-solving mindset, capable of addressing complex issues with creativity.
  • A willingness to travel for project-related activities.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geological Engineering; a postgraduate degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Structural Engineering is preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE or PEng) license or the ability to obtain one within six months of hire.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in tunnel or trenchless design or construction.

This position involves a typical office environment with the potential for fieldwork in various weather conditions.
