Job Summary

Desert Regional Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Manager to join our Float Pool team. As a Clinical Manager, you will be responsible for leading the shift operations in the department assigned, managing human resources, and ensuring patient safety and satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and guidance to staff related to patient care and protocols
  • Obtain and interpret patient information to determine their needs
  • Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development, and understand the range of treatment needed for patients
  • Facilitate patient throughput and timely discharge planning
  • Participate in the management of human resources, including staffing, evaluation, counseling, and interview/hiring of staff
  • Ensure that current job performance standards and competencies exist for each member of the staff
  • Maintain current records on all employees, including certification, licensure, and continuing education
  • Assure timely completion of performance evaluations and documents for Human Resources
  • Counsel and discipline staff in a timely manner
  • Regularly attend nursing leadership meetings and take personal responsibility for the quality of nursing practice and integrity of the nursing department
  • Maintain an open communication with staff, management, and administration regarding department, organization, national healthcare, and professional issues
  • Promote sound staffing practices and optimize the utilization of human resources
  • Utilize individual patient classification systems to predict nursing care requirements and maintain documentation to discern trends and patterns of nursing care delivery
  • Perform staff scheduling functions and facilitate unit work flow and teamwork
  • Assist in the implementation of standards of care, policies, and procedures, and review them with staff members
  • Assist in the review and revision of policies and procedures as necessary
  • Assist the director in the development and accomplishment of department long and short-term goals
  • Assist in the control and monitoring of supply costs to achieve flexed budgeted costs
  • Identify areas of cost savings through labor and supply utilization efficiencies and communicate suggestions to the Director
  • Assist and edit payroll in a timely manner
  • Maintain current knowledge and expertise in the specialty field of the department, and of the regulatory agencies
  • Regularly participate and complete special projects
  • Support all hospital programs, including risk management, safety, infection control, patient satisfaction, and committee memberships
  • Assist in the development of a department strategic plan
  • Facilitate and support the clinical and organizational strategic plan
  • Integrate Performance Improvement (PI) into daily operations
  • Utilize PI philosophy in developing strategic directions
  • Assist in the collection of data for unit-based improvement and other ongoing reviews
  • Obtain feedback from others within own and other departments, and collaborate with the department director on mechanisms for improvement
  • Communicate concerns from staff and/or self through proper written and verbal channels, and utilize problem-solving skills to suggest mechanisms for correction
  • Act as a team member within the department and within the organization
  • Demonstrate effective, positive, and responsible relationships with patients, families, medical directors, key physicians, employees, management, and administration
Requirements
  • Current California RN License
  • Minimum of 3 years acute care clinical experience
  • Demonstrated clinical competence and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability to present self in a positive and professional manner
  • Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS training
  • Current NIHSS certification
Preferred Qualifications
  • BSN
  • Previous management experience

Pay Range: $51.18 - $81.91. Individual wages are determined based upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, an employee's qualifications and experience.
