Role Purpose
To provide exceptional educational experiences that address clients' technical, regulatory, and safety training requirements through a comprehensive learning approach, while also contributing to the design and development of effective learning solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate technical training sessions utilizing a blended learning methodology, incorporating practical exercises to replicate real-world tasks, ensuring that National Grid delivers training that aligns with external standards, operational goals, and industry best practices.
- Assist in the creation and enhancement of cohesive and innovative training curricula to fulfill client educational needs.
- Collaborate with various departments, acting as a technical training consultant to address any inquiries or challenges.
- Conduct assessments and evaluations, including practical and technical testing.
- Represent technical training as the subject matter authority on various committees to ensure its relevance and understanding within the organization.
- Evaluate training requirements associated with new equipment, processes, and technologies to guarantee that National Grid integrates best practices into its educational programs.
- Engage as a subject matter expert during the development and revision of new technical training initiatives by the Design and Development teams.
- Stay informed on advancements in training methodologies to ensure that innovative practices and current learning needs are incorporated into National Grid's technical training offerings.
- Design, develop, and deliver training programs, including lesson plans and instructional materials, to meet the technical training demands of the organization while ensuring compliance with all external standards.
- Oversee the administration of learning records, including tracking course completions, attendance, assessments, and qualifications.
- Act as the subject matter expert for Learning & Development in governance bodies, transformation committees, and other technical groups to ensure representation and understanding of L&D within the organization.
- Conduct performance evaluations for both National Grid and contractor personnel.
Employees at Band E are expected to fulfill the key responsibilities listed above, along with the following:
- Deliver high-quality training solutions for complex technical content, identifying and analyzing training needs for client departments to develop effective training programs.
- Lead strategic initiatives for the Learning & Development organization and chair governance or advisory committees in collaboration with client groups.
- Ensure that L&D initiatives related to best practices, instructor development, and client service agreements are upheld within their area of technical expertise.
- Supervise the provision of training facilities, equipment, and instructors to ensure adequate support for the learning environment.
- Assess the impact and value of training programs using quality metrics to evaluate their effectiveness and promote continuous improvement.
- Support the professional development of L&D instructors through Train the Trainer programs to enhance their training delivery capabilities.
- Remain updated on training and regulatory developments to optimize best practices for National Grid.
Qualifications
- 5-7 years of experience in Gas Field Operations.
- Preferred knowledge of Gas Maintenance and Construction.
- Experience in Gas Field Operations is advantageous.
- Supervisory experience and/or an advanced degree in Education or a related field is beneficial.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including active listening and presentation abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
- In-depth knowledge of technical and safety policies, procedures, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Understanding of training and development principles and adult learning theories.
- Proficient in using personal computers and various business-related software.
- A valid driver's license is required, with a safe driving record that complies with National Grid's Safe Driver policy.
- This position offers a career path with opportunities for advancement as you gain experience and develop technical skills.
